I just got back from an amazing trip down to Cleveland Mississippi for the opening of Will Jack´s Contrast show. I had 4 pieces hang in the show, and it was an honor to be among so many talented artists. But the show was only part of the reason I went down. I mainly went down for the community. I got to hang out with some of my favorite photographers, and got to see the home of one of my dearest friends, Will Jacks.
Will showed us the meaning of true southern hospitality. It was so nice to really get the full delta experience; from a real blues shack and music (and I mean the real deal), to the infamous delta mosquitoes, and the totally flat lands, to the tight knit feel of the community.
And the coming together of our photographers friends was truly a special experience. Thank you Will so much for creating the opportunity for us all which led us to such grand experiences together.
This first image is of Po Monkey´s, a real juke joint out in the middle of a cotton field where we went out the night before the opening for some live blues.
These last 4 images are the images I had hung in the show. Do you have a favorite? If you would like to buy any images from this post as prints or digital downloads, you may do so here.
