A few weeks ago my friend sean Jones came through with our friend Graham and 4 kids, Lily, M´so, Persephone, and Summer. They were finishing up a roadtrip across the desert from Colorado on their way to Yosemite. After a day at the Buttermilks, we all came up to Rock Creek Canyon for a day of playing in the creek and climbing on the boulders.

There´s been quite a bit of weather lately which has really made for some fantastic skies. Last week I got treated with a rainbow over Tuolumne Meadows. I love moments like these : )

I always love a good sunset or sunrise from the Mono Lake Overlook.

Yesterday my friends Ken, Meredith, and I had an awesome adventure on Mt Humphreys. We set out to climb the east ridge, and made it most of the way before turning back due to dark clouds building and thunder moving in. None the less, it was another incredible day in the mountains.

The Cathedral Lakes Basin and surrounding areas is one of my favorite places. Being able to see from Half Dome to Cathedral Peak with lakes all around is awesome. Last week I roamed through the area on top of Medlicott Dome, up and over Mariolumne Dome, and down to lower Cathedral Lake with my new friends Brian and Megan. I actually shot their brother Andrew´s wedding a couple years ago, small world.

The Ancient Bristlecone Pine forest in the White Mountains just out of Bishop is one of the true treasures of this area. These trees are the oldest living creatures on earth, some as old as 5000 years old. That means they were saplings a couple thousand years before the pyramids were built! There´s definitely a special energy being up there. Its like you can sense the wisdom these trees have to offer.

Crystal and Trevor are very dear friends, and taking part in their wedding was such an honor. I´ll let the photos speak for themselves. Enjoy!

Leah and Mark had a gorgeous Yosemite wedding at Yosemite Falls. This was the first time I had shot a wedding at Yosemite Falls, and it was so beautiful. Leah and Mark traveled all the way from the East Coast, and it was actually Mark´s first trip to Yosemite!! How cool. Leah grew up coming up to Yosemite, and her sister had gotten married there, so of course it was very special for her and her family. It was a perfect day about 15 degrees cooler than it could be that time of year, and the entire day went so smooth.
Leah and Mark, thank you for having me capture moments and memories for you. I hope you love your images!! Enjoy!!!

Recently I had an incredible honor when I got a call from a new adventure magazine called Adventure Monkey. They wanted to feature a cover story from me for their second issue. Now typically when I get these requests, its to do a story on someone else, or just shoot the photos; but they wanted this to be written and shot by, and about me!
I was totally floored and excited, but nervous to. "How am I going to write a story about myself and make it interesting without sounding narcissistic" I thought to myself. Originally they asked me to just write "My Story", but that seemed too similar to the last article that came about me in Rangefinder.
So I thought I would try to get creative and actually write a more narrative style story from one of my favorite adventures, and then use that to try and tie in aspects of how and why I live my life the way I do. It was a tremendous challenge for me, but I´m really stoked how it all turned out. And to now see it printed in a full 14 page article is beyond exciting. You can download the PDF of the magazine or order hard copies here (its issue 2). Hope you enjoy!!

Last week my friend Sean Jones came through Bishop with four kids and our friend Graham. If you´ve seen my last few blog posts, I got some great shots with Sean´s kids M´so and Lily when I was out in Colorado. On this trip Sean, his kids, and Graham were out here in California with 12 year old Persephone and 14 year old Summer along as well. I´ve always admired Sean´s incredible desire to get kids out climbing, and this time was no exception. They were all so excited that on the first night we climbed all the way past dark into the moonlight.
Everyone was climbing so well and Having so much fun, but without question the highlight of the night was watching 5 year old Lily climb a 20 foot tall boulder problem by herself. 20 feet can be high if your over 5 feet tall, but at 2.5 feet tall, Lily´s climb was truly one of the most inpsiring ascents I´ve ever witnessed. She climbed it first all by herself, but with her Dad climbing right behind her. As soon as she got to the top she proclaimed "I wanna do it by myself!!!" And that she did in one of the most brilliant bist of climbing I´ve ever seen. Its going to be so fun to watch her and her brother M´so grow up. I have no doubt they´ll do amazing things.
Before we went climbing at the Buttermilks that evening, the kids had a blast climbing on the climbing ladder in my backyard, and jumping on the trampoline with the sprinkler under it.
